We need something to set leet lounge different from all of those shitty ass servers. Also, we need to increase our ability to RP. I'm tired of this same old "one shot one kill" sniper and the "shoot me 100 times but a doctor will patch me up in seconds" shit. We need to step forward from the old DarkRP and come to the new DarkRP. We need... Painmod.

Basically, each shot a player takes has a chance to make a person bleed. Each shot a player takes also makes the player take pain. Once a limit of pain is reached, the player dies. If the player has a bleed effect, he needs bandages to stop the bleeding. If the player reachs a high pain level, he gets dizzy and red flashing occurs (like heroine). The player can receive morphine from doctors to ease the pain that is caused by bullets. Bleed effects slowly drain HP (and if possible makes blood drop to the ground).

For the morphine, bandages, and splints, they should all be free or a very low price that only doctors can buy. They will also need some sort of a scanner to detect what problems are on a person, such as if they need morphine or if they need a splint. All this gives doctors a real reason to exist. Any player can just buy full hp back from the f4 menu so doctors are useless.



Along with painmod, we need to revamp our styles of killing. We need to figure out why we constantly shoot from a gun pointing straight down at the ground, yet somehow get a headshot. Also, snipers have either gotta go or get a major downgrade. 400$ for an instant death machine is NOTHING. If we had a hacker go up on a rooftop with one of those snipers, he'd be unstoppable. We need to get rid of 100% accuracy, 0 recoil, and the silence. It needs to become an awp with shitty aim, basically. No more 0 recoil. Make that thing come back and smack you between the eyes each shot. Also, make it so you'll miss a cockroach a mile away at least. Also, make that bad boy yell out, "IMMA FIRIN' MAH SNIPA".

Along with sniper revamps, I believe bullet dmg should be lowered greatly. Look at 50 cent, how many times has he gotten shot now? 9? He's still kickin'. Knives should take more than 2 stabs to kill. Make it at least 5 or something. I'm tired of getting one shotted across a counter by a fucker with a knife. 2 stabs should WOUND someone and make them BLEED. (Hint hint, pain mod). Shotguns need to be revamped. I dunno what to do about them. Seems like one shot is a kill and thats the way it should be. Maybe they need to be a lot more expensive, and look obvious when you're carrying it.

This is a rip from Apollorp.org, the orgin of the pain mod idea.

Usage
When shot in the arm, a player will drop their weapon (healed by a Tensor Bandage). When shot in the leg, a player will run slower (healed by a Splint). No matter where they are shot, their pain will go up (healed by Morphine or time) and they will bleed more (healed by a bandage). Raw damage (as in your health) can be healed using a Dermal Regenerator. A player's status can be checked using a Medical Triquarter. Any pain will cause the screen to flash red and between 20 and 50, the screen will shake.

Hawk said that he had no idea if it would work or not. He said that above all, we should completely remake DarkRP. We should build it so it has a core to run from instead of a compiled mess of crap. If we use a central core mod and make everything else just plugins, we could easily add in new things and fix things that break. It could be exactly like DarkRP for all I care, just if it is rebuilt we can easily add on and keep moving forward while everyone else is stuck trying to rework everything in. However, building a core is nothing simple. It's very difficult and would take a while (expecially since I have no idea what I'm doing).

However, it seems like Painmod would run perfect using Lua in gmod. We have all the tools we need to make something very similiar. It would be GREAT if we had some other people with Half-Life 1 to download the specialists and join a server with painmod. That way we could check out exactly what we need to do in order to make it. The only server I have ever known to have painmod is Hawk's official server, which I doubt he is going to start it back up.

I'll talk to him to see if he'll start up his server so we can check it out sometime.

Ya... Coding a core sounds a bit hard considering I can't even make a swep that picks something up. We'd need major help, or I'd sorta rule out rebuilding the darkrp mod.

Maybe if you could keep comming up with these ideas, and we could start on a simpler one first lol.

I still say we should try working on this painmod. We could rebuild darkrp or build a complete new RP mod some other time.

Hire a coder? Or is that too much work? Also if we were going to do that we might as well as hire somebody to make a map.

Christ dude fuck no. Time for a history lesson.

Tyler was this over confident 14 year old who said he could make us a script from scratch. He kept everyone updated on the old forums, and in exchange for his work he was given admin. He abused this power pretty much every second he was in the server, building massive laggy skywalks in tbcity and noclipping through people's walls to steal their shit. At some point several people started to dislike Tyler, and when confronted about his admin abuse, he claimed that he was away on vacation, and that his brother had been using his account to minge. Enough people believed him to let him keep his admin and let him off with a warning to not let anyone use his steam account, especially since it had admin. He continued admin abusing after that, but nobody really did anything because he was working on our script. Eventually he released a beta of the gamemode, so we could test it. The gamemode was basically sandbox, minus everything. It turned out Tyler wasn't much of a lua coder and was pretty much jerking us off the whole time, and he didn't even have a brother. Sometime after that for something unrelated he was permanently banned. I'll try to find him on steam.

Like I said before, I had no idea who this Tyler person was. Also, it's clearly very difficult to tell sarcasm in text. (I was kind of confused about "coding the rain", considering that's a part of hammer not lua.)

So with all that aside, maybe I could start working on an addon for the painmod. I just don't know where to start.

I expected to see that link sometime in this thread, lol. Well, I guess I'll start working on it...

Here's my first shot at it. Please test it for me, as I cannot for the next couple of hours.

I believe the Lua file goes into garrysmod/garrysmod/lua/autorun/server OR just the autorun folder... idk.

Broadband Bandit tested that version and it didn't work...

All future test version will appear on the front page.
